LONDON, ONTARIO- 2020 was a year of change and growth for rural communities. Gone were connections made during coffee shop chats or at farm shows and finding products and services specific to rural communities became more challenging. Lifelong rural residents Jim Ford and Lynda Ford saw a gap in the market and leveraged an existing software to create the AgLinks.com platform.
AgLinks.com is an information hub that provides farmers and others living in rural communities a quick and easyway to connect with product and service providers that service their unique areas. As one recent visitor says, "I really like the ability to find this type of information right from my tractor seat." Two things set AgLinks.com apart: the focus on rural communities and its ability to search by postal code. Instead of a web search that pulls results from all over the province orcountry, AgLinks.com will show results unique to the searcher’s local area.
“The Ontario Government has committed to bringing high-speed internet to rural Ontario and by doing so will make the agricultural sector more competitive and modernize the way farmers andrural residents access information” says Jim Ford, President of AgLinks.com. “AgLinks.com is the first online tool geared solely towards the rural population and allows them an easy, quick way to connect”. The website is easy to use and once the search results are ready the site allows for a direct connection to the provider’s website, social media, or directly by phone. “Until broadband services are available everywhere, rural communities cannot rely on online search tools that assume users have the connectivity necessary to follow links to websites and clicks through to contact pages. AgLinks.com was developed specifically for rural communities with this in mind” says Lynda Ford, Director of AgLinks.com.
As the world enters its secondyear of the pandemic and Ontarians are all in different levels of the Government’s pandemic response framework, AgLinks.com is keeping people connected.
